Pakistan Cricket Team led by Babar Azam is getting ready for a three-Test tour of England, which is slated to begin on 19th August. Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has warned the sub-continent nation ahead of the assignment, saying England will not make the same mistakes that the West Indians did in the recent series.
During his chat with GEO News, Rawalpindi Express said, “England will not make the same mistakes that West Indies did to allow Pakistan to get into a winning position. They will prepare seam-friendly tracks that the Pakistani team will find it difficult to handle.”
The 51-year-old was referring to the recent WI vs PAK series, which ended 1-1. Roston Chase’s side won the first Test match by 90 runs at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad. The visitors then rebounded to win the second game of the series by eight wickets in the second Test match at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
When did Pakistan last win a Test series in England?
The last Test win for the Pakistani side on English soil came in 1996. Wasim Akram’s side secured a 2-0 victory after winning the games at Lord’s and the Oval, while the second Test in Leeds was drawn.
The side has been to England six times since then and has lost the series thrice, with three campaigns ending in a stalemate. The last tour happened in 2020. Azhar Ali was the captain of Pakistan, and the three-match series ended in favour of the host nation by a margin of 1-0.
