Automobile Desk: After strengthening its hold in the global market, Vietnam's leading electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is now preparing to make a big splash in the Indian two-wheeler segment. After four-wheelers, the company has patented the design of its new premium electric maxi-scooter 'Rasad' for the Indian market. This move clearly indicates that the brand is rapidly working on its strategy to establish a strong presence in India's emerging electric two-wheeler market.

This new scooter from Vinfast is much larger in size than common electric two-wheelers and has been designed with a sporty look. Going by the patented design, the 'Raisaad' is styled as a proper maxi-scooter with sharp and angular body lines. Talking about the front profile of the scooter, it has the company's signature V-shaped LED DRLs and powerful LED headlamp set-up. Apart from this, a large windscreen has also been included in it to make long distance traveling comfortable.

This scooter looks quite practical in terms of design and ergonomics. The stepped-style seat provides excellent cushioning and separate seating space for both the rider and pillion. Along with the flat floorboard, it has a split pillion grab rail, which gives it a premium feel. Keeping the ride quality and safety in mind, it has been provided with telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorber suspension set-up at the rear. For better braking performance, both the wheels of the scooter are provided with disc brakes and large alloy wheels and wide tyres, which give it excellent grip and sporty appeal on the road.

At present, the company has not made any official announcement regarding powertrain and mechanical specifications, but according to international media reports, it is likely to get a centre-mounted electric motor. This motor may be capable of generating a pickup power of approximately 7.1kW. It is estimated that this maxi-scooter can achieve a top speed of around 100 kmph, making it suitable for driving both on the highway and in the city.
It is noteworthy that VinFast had earlier patented the design of another electric scooter named 'Viper' for the Indian market and an electric bike based on the 'Sulad' concept. According to the company's previous plans, it is preparing to enter the Indian two-wheeler market by the year 2026. However, simply having a design patent does not provide a 100% guarantee that it will be immediately made available for sale. The company has not yet confirmed its official launch date, price and specifications as per the Indian market. If this model hits the Indian roads, it will compete directly with other premium and high-speed electric scooters present in the country.
