Arshad Nadeem pulls out of Lausanne Diamond League: Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem has withdrawn his name from the Lausanne Diamond League to be held on August 21. Why did Arshad Nadeem withdraw his name?

Arshad Nadeem is currently practicing in Lahore. His coach Salman Butt has told that he will soon go to Potchefstroom, South Africa, where he will train for a few weeks under the supervision of his coach Tersius Liebenberg and local trainers. For this reason, Arshad has decided not to participate in the Diamond League to be held in August. His main goal is to improve his fitness and performance for the upcoming big tournaments.

Poor performance in Commonwealth Games

Arshad Nadeem’s performance in the recent Commonwealth Games 2026 held in Glasgow was disappointing. Nadeem qualified for the final, but he failed to make it to the top-8 after three throws. He looked completely out of form. In this event, Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage won the gold medal with a throw of 89.75 meters, while India’s Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal and Yashvir Singh won the bronze medal. After this poor performance, Arshad had to face a lot of criticism. Now, through special training in Africa, he is preparing to make a strong comeback in the upcoming tournament.
