Automobile Desk: Buying the flagship SUV Magister (Gloster) of Morris Garages (MG Motors), which has made a strong hold in the full-size premium SUV segment in the Indian automobile market, has now become expensive. The company has increased the prices of its powerful SUV for the first time. The price of this SUV, which was launched in the Indian market about three months ago, has been directly increased by Rs 1.5 lakh. When it was launched in late May, the company had set a special introductory price for customers, which has now expired.

After this change in prices, the starting ex-showroom price of MG Magister has now become Rs 42.49 lakh, which was earlier Rs 40.99 lakh. It is a matter of relief that the company has limited this price increase only to its 4×2 (two-wheel drive) variants. This 4×2 variant is available to customers in both 6-seater and 7-seater seating configurations. At the same time, for those who are fond of adventure and off-roading, there has been no change in the prices of its top-spec 4×4 variant. Its 4×4 model will continue to be sold at the same starting ex-showroom price of Rs 44.99 lakh as before.

In terms of size and road presence, this SUV seems to be at the forefront of its segment. This car, which directly challenges the big cars like Toyota Fortuner, is even bigger in terms of size. Its overall length is 5,046 mm, width is 2,016 mm and height is 1,870 mm. Along with this, it gets a long wheelbase of 2,950 mm, which ensures great legroom and space for the passengers inside the cabin of the car.

In terms of performance, it has a powerful 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine. This engine is capable of generating maximum power of 212.55 bhp and peak torque of 478.5 Nm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. For tough terrains and off-roading, it has been provided with advanced features like all-wheel-drive system, various terrain modes, 3 differential locks and low-range transfer case, which help it overcome even the toughest terrains with ease.

Talking about features and luxury, the cabin of Magister is equipped with many premium features. It has front seats with massage function with multiple modes, ventilated seats and 12-way electrically adjustable driver seat (with lumbar support). Apart from this, the cabin has modern features like a large panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen system, 12-speaker JBL sound system, 64-color ambient lighting, wireless phone charger, automatic climate control and roof-mounted AC vents for rear seat passengers.
