Emraan Hashmi, who is returning to the screen exactly 19 years after the 2007 cult classic film ‘Awarapan’, has created a stir at the box office even before its release. ‘Awarapan 2’, which is hitting the theaters on Friday, August 14, has performed brilliantly in advance booking and has crossed the mark of Rs 5.2 crore. With this huge earning, the film has laid a strong foundation for its opening day.

More than 95 thousand tickets were sold in 3 days advance booking.

If we look at the figures of advance booking which started from Monday, there is a tremendous craze about the film among the audience. According to the data of film trade expert website Sacnilk, ‘Awarapan 2’ has got 5,783 shows across the country. A total of 95,414 tickets of the film have been sold in the last three days.

The net advance collection of the film without block seats has been recorded at Rs 3.06 crore. Including block seats, this figure has crossed Rs 5.2 crore. Ticket sales in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and single screen theaters are expected to increase further by Thursday evening.

Box office race: Direct competition with ‘Partition 1947’

On the Independence Day weekend of 14th August, ‘Awarapan 2’ is in direct competition with Sunny Deol starrer period drama ‘Batwara 1947’. However, in the initial figures of advance booking, Emraan Hashmi’s film has taken the lead.

Effect on audience and opening day estimate

‘Bantwara 1947’ has so far made an advance collection of around Rs 2 crore with block seats, due to which ‘Awarapan 2’ is looking far ahead at the moment. Considering the long queues at single screen multiplexes and the demand for night shows in metro cities, trade experts believe that the opening collection of the first day on Friday will further clarify the difference between the two films.

Theaters are going to directly benefit from the long weekend of Independence Day. For the audience, this weekend will witness a direct fight between two big stars.
