There has once again been a huge boil in the politics of West Bengal. Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari has taken a very tough stance against those making derogatory and objectionable comments against the great freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on social media. The CM has bluntly warned that such people should immediately delete their social media posts and apologize without any delay.
Direct and strict instructions given to the police
West Bengal Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari has given clear instructions to the state police that anyone who makes derogatory remarks against Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose should be immediately arrested. The CM has also made it clear that before the law of the country, be it an MP, MLA or a senior government official, the law is completely equal for everyone.
While talking to journalists, the Chief Minister said that those who insult Netaji on social media should immediately remove their posts and apologize. This sharp and strict instruction of the Chief Minister has come after a controversial statement given by BJP MP Nagendranath Roy.
After all, what was the whole controversy and who made the comment?
Cooch Behar leader Nagendranath Roy alias Anant Maharaj was nominated for Parliament from West Bengal in July 2023 as a BJP-backed candidate. Roy is a prominent leader of the 'Greater Cooch Behar People's Association' and is considered to be a very influential influence in the Rajbanshi community of North Bengal. He gave a controversial statement regarding Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, calling him a 'war criminal'. Along with this, he had raised questions on the leadership of Netaji and also expressed doubts on the historical role of 'Azad Hind Fauj' in India's freedom struggle.
When BJP MLAs met the Chief Minister
After this entire controversy, a delegation of all BJP MLAs and ministers from North Bengal came to meet the Chief Minister and raised with him the serious issue of such comments made against Netaji.
The Chief Minister held high-level discussions on the matter with state Director General of Police Siddha Nath Gupta and BJP MLAs. After this he made it clear that the police will not just sit silent by registering a formal case against those who made derogatory statements against Netaji, but will also arrest them immediately. When the media asked questions about the police action to be taken against Anant Maharaj, CM Shubhendu Adhikari bluntly said that he would not take anyone's personal name, but the law of the country and the state is completely the same for MLAs, MPs, leaders of any political party, government officers or police officers.
'Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Public Service Center' will open in every constituency
Amidst the controversies, Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari has made another big announcement for the development of the state and the welfare of the people. He has given strict instructions to all the MLAs of West Bengal to set up modern 'Public Service Centers' in their respective constituencies and all these offices should be named after the great Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
The official further announced that the state government will provide financial assistance of Rs 30,000 every month for the smooth functioning of these centers subject to certain conditions. The Chief Minister made it clear that it would be absolutely mandatory to have Netaji's name on these centres. Along with this, a special photograph of Netaji in traditional dhoti and kurta will also be displayed in these offices, which will be provided by the State Information and Cultural Affairs Department.
While presenting his views, the Chief Minister said that earlier in our state, MLAs used to work from government offices, but now almost every MLA has his own private office. It is extremely important to have a dedicated service center run by the MLA in every assembly constituency. Through these special centres, all the MLAs will provide excellent services to the people of their respective areas. The special thing is that every citizen will get services at these centres, whether that citizen has voted for them in the elections or not. All these service centers will be officially known as 'Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Seva Kendra'.
