Automobile Desk: The commercial vehicle segment of Indian automobile giant Tata Motors has shown excellent financial performance during the first quarter (April-June) of the current financial year 2027. On the basis of strong vehicle sales and increasing demand in the market, a strong jump of about 83 percent has been recorded in the company's net profit on an annual basis.
According to the data released by the company, the net profit of Tata Motors' commercial vehicle business increased to Rs 2,560 crore in this quarter. If we compare it with the same period of the last financial year, at that time the company had earned a profit of Rs 1,397 crore. The main reason behind the profit increasing at double the pace is the bumper demand for commercial vehicles in the domestic and international markets.

Along with the financial results, a significant increase has also been registered in the operating income of the company. Tata Motors' total revenue during the April to June period increased by 19 percent to Rs 20,667 crore, as against Rs 17,324 crore in the same quarter of the last financial year. This increase in revenue clearly shows that there is a positive environment in the market on both the supply and sales fronts of commercial vehicles.
On the other hand, the company's EBITDA also increased by 10 percent to Rs 2,300 crore. However, there was some pressure on EBITDA margins due to increase in costs. EBITDA margin in the first quarter of the current financial year stood at 10.9 percent, which is 90 basis points less than last year. According to the report, during this period the total operating expenses of the company have increased by 13 percent on an annual basis. This marginal decline in margins is mainly due to rising commodity prices and input costs.
If we look at the sales figures, Tata Motors has sold a total of 1,08,700 commercial vehicles in this quarter. This figure is 26 percent more than the same period last year. While the company's sales increased by 26 percent in the Indian market, a strong growth of 35 percent was recorded on the export front in foreign markets.
This surge in sales has directly benefited the company's market share. Tata Motors' share in the domestic commercial vehicle segment has now increased to 36.8 percent, an improvement of 100 basis points compared to the previous quarter.
The trading results were announced after the stock markets closed. However, even before the results, huge enthusiasm was seen among the investors and Tata Motors shares closed at Rs 457 on BSE with a rise of about 2 percent.
