New Delhi. The parliamentary committee has expressed concern over the number of vacant posts in CBSE and NCERT. According to the parliamentary committee, 44 percent posts are vacant in CBSE. Whereas, 1596 posts are to be filled in NCERT. The parliamentary committee has said in the report presented in the Lok Sabha that these vacant posts in CBSE and NCERT need to be filled immediately. The committee says that non-filling of posts can have a major impact on the security of examinations and the quality of education.
The report of the parliamentary committee states that 2117 posts are sanctioned in CBSE. Out of these, 933 posts are vacant. Maximum 595 posts are vacant in Group 'C' in CBSE. The parliamentary committee has said that CBSE is dependent on contractual employees for its functioning. The parliamentary committee has said that the vacant posts of CBSE should be filled immediately. CBSE is autonomous. It does not receive any grant from the government. 31234 schools across the country are affiliated to CBSE. CBSE has 25 regional and 5 sub-regional offices. CBSE conducts 10th and 12th board exams.
At the same time, NCERT works to prepare curriculum and books for school education. Books written by NCERT experts are taught in schools across the country. According to the Parliamentary Committee, the number of sanctioned posts in NCERT till October 2025 was 2844. Out of which only 1248 posts are permanent employees. According to the parliamentary committee report, 145 academic, 131 school teaching, 916 ministerial and 404 other posts are vacant in NCERT. According to the report of the parliamentary committee, to meet the need in the meantime, advertisements were issued for 173 non-teaching and 117 teaching posts on contract basis in NCERT. Despite this, the number of vacant posts is still high.
