The popularity of 'maxi-style' scooters has grown tremendously in the Indian automobile market over the past few months. While options like Hero Xoom 160, Yamaha Aerox 155 and TVS Ntorq 150 are currently available in the market, Honda is also gearing up to launch its ADV160 during the festive season.

But before all this, the new Aprilia SXR 175 maxi-scooter from Italian two-wheeler brand Aprilia is all set to hit the Indian roads in September 2026.

Engine and Performance

The Aprilia SXR 175 features a 174.7cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine from the company's already available SR 175 hp.e.

Special Features: While all other competing scooters in the segment get liquid-cooled engines, the SXR 175 will be the only maxi-scooter in the segment to feature an air-cooled engine.

Design and look

• Flat Floorboard: While other maxi-scooters have a central-spine design in the middle, the SXR 175 features a flat floorboard, providing a more comfortable space for everyday use.
• Premium Front Look: The front apron features superbike-inspired LED headlamps and a tall windscreen for wind protection.
• Other Design Elements: It features a single-piece stepped seat, superbike-like LED tail-lamp cluster, side-slung exhaust and attractive side body panels.

storage and high-tech features

• 5-inch color TFT Cluster: It is likely to get the same 5-inch full-color TFT instrument cluster as the SR 175, with features like Bluetooth smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.
• Storage and Charging: There will be an underseat storage capacity of around 20 to 25 liters under the seats and a USB charging socket for mobile charging.

Braking and suspension

• Breaks: The front wheel gets disc brakes and single-channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) for safety.
• Suspension: It gets telescopic forks at the front and an adjustable suspension unit at the rear.

The Aprilia SXR 175 is likely to be priced between around ₹1.40 lakh to ₹1.50 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market. After its launch, it will be the flagship scooter in Aprilia's maxi-scooter portfolio.
