Actress Preity Zinta recently recalled a humorous fan encounter involving Bollywood star Sunny Deol while the two were shooting for the 2003 action thriller The Hero: Love Story of a Spy in Manali.

Preity shared the anecdote during her appearance with Sunny Deol on the quiz reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18, while discussing the actor’s immense popularity among fans.

Recalling the incident, Preity said a newlywed Punjabi couple had encountered Sunny during the film’s shoot. The woman became excited on seeing the actor and asked whether she could take a photograph with him. She then asked if she could touch him, to which Sunny, despite appearing slightly shy, agreed.

The woman’s husband held the camera as she approached Sunny for the photograph. However, according to Preity, the woman became increasingly comfortable and ended up semi-hugging the actor.

Her husband jokingly told her in Punjabi, “Araam naal, araam naal, tera praa hega si,” meaning, “Go slow, go slow. He is like your brother.”

The woman’s quick response had Preity in splits. She replied, “Praa hoga tera!” — essentially saying that Sunny might be her husband’s brother, but certainly not hers.

The Hero: Love Story of a Spy released in April 2003 and was directed by Anil Sharma and written by Shaktimaan Talwar. Sunny played Major Arun Khanna, an undercover Indian agent, while Preity portrayed Reshma.

The film also featured Priyanka Chopra as Shaheen Zakaria, marking one of her early major film appearances. Veteran actors Amrish Puri and Kabir Bedi were also part of the cast.

Preity and Sunny are set to reunite on screen in their upcoming film Batwara 1947.
