Bengali filmmaker Shiboprosad Mukherjee has expressed his excitement over veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty joining his next film, scheduled for release in 2027, describing the collaboration as a long-cherished dream.

“Everyone has certain dreams. They quietly take root in our hearts from a very young age. I had one such dream, that someday, I would get to work with Mithun Chakraborty,” Shiboprosad said.

The filmmaker and the veteran actor gradually developed a professional association over the years and eventually found an opportunity to collaborate when Shiboprosad narrated the script to Mithun.

After hearing the story, Mithun shook his hand and said, “You’ve nailed it! This is the story of my life.”

For Shiboprosad, the response was deeply emotional as he recalled growing up watching the veteran actor.

“Somewhere inside, that little boy I once was was still sitting quietly, listening. To hear those words from someone I had grown up watching was an incredibly emotional moment for me,” he said.

The filmmaker also recalled an earlier conversation with Mithun while the actor was in the US. Shiboprosad had introduced himself over the phone and sent him a voice note.

“After listening to it, he called me back and said, ‘Shibu! Why are you giving me such a long introduction about yourself? I am ready to work!’” he recalled.

Mithun will headline the upcoming Windows Production House film, bringing together Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy with the veteran actor.

The project is scheduled for release in 2027 and will be among the special films being planned to mark 25 years of Windows Production House.

“Today, everything has been finalised. Most importantly, Dada is doing well. Just a few more days to wait. Then, a dream I have carried for years will become a reality. Finally, we are working together, Nandita di, me, and Mithun Chakraborty,” Shiboprosad said.
