Keeping in mind the convenience of the special guests, invitees and general public attending the Independence Day celebrations, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has made special arrangements for August 15. Delhi Metro services will start from 4 am on Independence Day. This service will be available from all terminal stations of DMRC network.
Trains at an interval of 30 minutes on every metro line
According to DMRC, trains will run at an interval of 30 minutes on all metro lines until regular revenue service starts. Once normal service resumes under the regular timetable, the Metro will operate as per the scheduled schedule.
With this special arrangement, people arriving for the Independence Day celebrations to be organized at the Red Fort will be able to get better facilities of public transport in the morning.
1.30 lakh special QR tickets given to Defense Ministry
For smooth movement of special guests and invitees, DMRC has provided 1.30 lakh special pre-vended QR tickets to the Ministry of Defence. These special QR tickets will also be made available at designated metro stations to invitees with valid physical admit cards issued by the Ministry of Defence. The travel expenses incurred through these QR tickets will be reimbursed to DMRC by the Ministry of Defence.
Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate will be the nearest stations.
Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate metro stations will be the major nearest stations to the venue of Independence Day celebrations i.e. Red Fort. Passengers coming to the function have been advised to avail metro service to reach these stations.
DMRC Principal Executive Director (Corporate Communications) Anuj Dayal said that this special arrangement has been made for the convenience of passengers and invitees on the occasion of Independence Day.
