A very relieving news has come to the fore for the farmers of Bihar who are cultivating Kharif crops. In order to reduce the huge expenditure on irrigation of crops, the state government has made a special provision of providing financial assistance under the Diesel Subsidy Scheme.

Under this scheme, farmers who irrigate their fields through diesel pumpsets will be sent the grant amount directly to their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). With this step of the government, farmers are expected to get a lot of support in this period of inflation.

Eligible farmers on irrigation under Diesel Subsidy Scheme Rs 75 per liter Subsidy will be given at the rate of Rs. The government has considered the maximum consumption of 10 liters of diesel as standard for one-time irrigation of 1 acre of land.

Mathematically, farmers will get direct assistance of up to Rs 750 per acre for one irrigation. Any farmer can avail the benefit of this scheme for a maximum of 8 acres of land. This will significantly reduce the costs of farmers farming with diesel-powered pumpsets.

Different limits fixed according to the crop

The government has fixed the maximum limit of grant depending on the type of crop and irrigation requirement:

• Paddy nursery and jute: For these crops, maximum irrigation per acre is two times. Rs 1,500 Will get grant up to Rs.
• Paddy, maize, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables and medicinal plants: Provision has been made for maximum three irrigations for these crops. Under this, farmers have to pay per acre Rs 2,250 Assistance amount up to Rs.

Benefit will be available only on irrigation till 30th October

As per the guidelines of the Agriculture Department, the benefits of the scheme will be applicable only on diesel purchased and irrigation done within the stipulated time frame. Farmer Till 30 October 2026 You will be able to submit your application for the irrigation done. It is worth noting that one application form will be considered to only one irrigation process.

To avail the benefit of this scheme, farmers do not need to go anywhere. After completion of the online application and document verification process, the grant amount will be directly transferred to the bank account of the farmers found eligible.
