JSW MG Motor India has released the first official teaser of its upcoming new energy vehicle. This new SUV is scheduled to be launched on August 26, 2026. It is believed that it could be a modified version of Wuling Starlight 560 sold in China and its name in India could be MG Hector Hawk. This will be MG's first production model to be built on the company's new ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform). The platform is designed to support a variety of powertrains, including electric, strong hybrid, plug-in hybrid and range-extender hybrid systems.

What will be special in the design?

The outline (silhouette) of the new SUV is shown in the teaser. It has a closed grille and illuminated MG logo at the front. If its design is like the Starlight 560 sold in China, then its front look can be bold and sporty. The SUV is likely to have an angular design, rectangular LED headlamps and LED DRLs. Additionally, it is expected to have thick black cladding on the bumper and a fake skid plate at the bottom. The side profile may feature dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels and thick black cladding around the wheel arches. At the rear, LED tail lamps and a boxy tailgate design can be seen. In terms of size, the new MG SUV is likely to be similar to the Wuling Starlight 560. The Chinese model measures 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,755mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,810mm.

5-seater and 7-seater options

The MG Hector Hawk is expected to be offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations. Talking about the features, it is likely to have a 12.8-inch central touchscreen infotainment system. Apart from this, features like wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless phone charger, leather seats, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, automatic climate control and cruise control may be included. The SUV is also expected to have Level 2 ADAS, which will help with a variety of safety functions while driving.

Electric and PHEV powertrains
The new MG SUV can be launched in India with electric and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain options. The electric version is expected to have a 69.2kWh battery pack and an electric motor; This setup can deliver around 136 bhp of power with a single-speed automatic gearbox.

At the same time, MG Hector Hawk PHEV can be provided with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine along with an electric motor and a 20.5kWh battery pack. The combined power output of this setup can be around 197 bhp. At present, MG Motor India has not given complete information about the name, price or final specifications of the vehicle. More information is expected to be revealed during its official launch on August 26.
