Royal Enfield has revolutionized the mid-weight bike segment by introducing a modern 452cc, liquid-cooled 'Sherpa' engine. The same engine powers two of the company's most popular bikes – the Himalayan 450 and the Guerrilla 450, though based on the same engine and platform, the two bikes have completely different looks, purposes and riding styles. Both cars are powered by a 452cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder Sherpa engine that produces 40 bhp of power and 40 Nm of torque. Also, both the bikes feature a 6-speed gearbox and ride-by-wire technology. The Guerrilla 450's smaller 17-inch alloy wheels and lighter weight make the pick-up feel nimbler, making it nimbler in city traffic. The Guerrilla 450 is a naked, modern-roadster bike, while the Himalayan 450 is a proper adventure tourer. The Guerrilla gets small 17-inch tubeless alloy wheels, short-travel telescopic forks and a low seat height of 780 mm, making the 185 kg bike easy to handle for shorter people. On the other hand, the Himalayan gets 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels, longer-travel USD front forks, 825 mm seat height and 196 kg curb weight, which keeps it more stable on rough roads.

Riding experience

The Guerrilla 450's seating arrangement is slightly aggressive and sporty, making it perfect for daily city commutes and weekend ghats riding. In contrast, the seating arrangement of the Himalayan 450 is quite upright and comfortable. Hence, Himalayan is considered best for continuous travel of hundreds of kilometers on bad roads, potholes, mud, stones and highways.

Fuel tank and range

The Guerrilla 450 comes with an 11-litre fuel tank, which is sufficient for city use, but long journeys may require you to make frequent stops at the petrol pump. On the other hand, the Himalayan 450 gets a larger fuel tank of 17 litres, which provides better range for long touring and long distance journeys.
