Chhattisgarh News: The Public Works Department held a review meeting in Chhattisgarh regarding timely completion of road and building construction works and repair of roads and bridges damaged due to rain. Secretary of Public Works Department Mukesh Kumar Bansal On August 13, he reviewed the construction works of all the divisions of the Durg area at the PWD headquarters 'Nirman Bhawan' located in Nava Raipur. He instructed the officers to complete the work with quality and within the stipulated time frame.
Immediate work on roads damaged by rain and floods
In the meeting, emphasis was laid on first repairing the roads and bridges damaged due to heavy rains and floods. The Secretary said that traffic should be started on the affected routes as soon as possible. During the current monsoon, repair work on roads and filling of potholes should be done immediately.
He also directed to get the repairs of performance guaranteed roads done immediately by the contractors. After the end of the rains, to get the BT screw repairing work done on a war footing, it was asked to complete the tender process by 31st August and to decide the agencies by 31st September.
Instructions to officers for continuous inspection
PWD Secretary asked the Chief Engineer and Superintending Engineer to hold a meeting with the Executive Engineers and Sub-Divisional Officers every month. In these meetings, topics to construction works, tenders, bill payment, court cases, human resources and office will be reviewed.
All engineers were asked to visit the construction sites at least two days a week to check the quality and progress of the work. Emphasis was also laid on completing the work as per the stipulated timeline by maintaining regular contact and coordination with the contractors.
Focus also on village connectivity and land acquisition
In the meeting, information was also taken about the proposals for high-speed roads along with roads and bridges to provide all-year road connectivity to inaccessible villages. Instructions were given to complete the process of land acquisition by mutual consent within three months and get the name transfer done immediately after that.
Instructions to complete bills and certificates by 30th September
The Secretary asked to pay all the dues including GST, royalty and final payment of contractors to the completed construction works by September 30. He directed that the works in PWD-IMS should be closed by providing all payments and certificates within three months of completion of the work.
Instructions were also given to pay the bills to events and programs within a month. Apart from this, a list of officers and employees working at the same table for more than three years was prepared and asked to make new postings by 30th September.
Emphasis also on PWD-IMS and resolution of complaints
Instructions were given to complete the entry of all departmental works in PWD-IMS by 31st August. Estimates of new priority works for the financial years 2025-26 and 2026-27 were also asked to be submitted by August 31.
Besides, instructions were given to expeditiously dispose of complaints and applications to Chief Minister Helpline, CPGRAMS and Public Service Guarantee. Executive engineers were asked to review these portals every 15 days.
Compassionate appointments, court cases and pending pension cases were also reviewed in the meeting. Instructions were given to settle pending pension cases by September 30 and to collect necessary certificates of officers and employees retiring this year. Executive engineers and sub-divisional officers of all seven divisions of Durg region were present in the meeting along with senior officers of the department.
