Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed strong objection to the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill 2026 passed by both the Houses of Parliament. Demanding the central government to withdraw the bill, he warned that if it does not happen, there will be such a big movement in Jharkhand that the entire country will see.

CM Hemant Soren made this announcement on Thursday after discussing with party MPs, district heads and officials through video conferencing. He said that protests will be lodged against the bill in every district, block, panchayat and city.

He termed the bill as an injustice to Jharkhand and its people and said that it is a big blow to the development of the state and the future of the coming generations. He said that Jharkhand will not accept this step-motherly behavior of the Centre.

Hemant Soren said that 'Miners belong to Jharkhand, land belongs to Jharkhand' then why will Delhi decide the rights of Jharkhand? He alleged that by hastily passing the bill in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, the Central Government has weakened the rights of Jharkhand.

The Chief Minister claimed that the bill could have an adverse impact on the state's social security and welfare schemes. Many schemes including Mayyan Samman Yojana, Abua Housing Scheme, pension, education and health may be affected.

He said that Jharkhand Mukti Morcha will strongly oppose the bill. He demanded the central government to withdraw it immediately. He warned that if the Central Government is not alert and Jharkhand and Jharkhandis are not returned their rights, then Jharkhand will not step back from taking decisive and historic decisions.

Directing the party organization to campaign against the bill across the state, the Chief Minister said that the protest will be taken to village and panchayat level.

MP Vijay Hansda, Mahua Maji, party general secretary cum state government minister Sudivya Kumar, general secretary Vinod Pandey, Abhishek Prasad Pintu, presidents of various district units and many party officials were present in the video conferencing organized to discuss this bill.
