A Difficult Start for MI London
The chase began with immediate setbacks. Brydon Carse, who would finish with figures of 2 for 18 from his allotted 20 deliveries, made early inroads in remarkable fashion. Will Jacks fell in the sixth delivery of the innings for 2, caught by Benny Howell at cover after being beaten by movement off the surface. James Vince and skipper Sam Curran steadied the innings through a period of controlled accumulation, navigating some disciplined bowling from Carse, Matthew Potts, Nathan Ellis, and Howell. Pooran Changes the Match in an Instant
Pooran arrived at the crease and immediately altered the complexion of the contest. He struck 25 from his first nine deliveries, targeting the slower bowlers with precision and timing. The introduction of Abrar Ahmed brought no respite. He observed that Vince and Curran had done the necessary groundwork in the harder phase, and that his role was to capitalise once the foundation was in place. The winning stroke came off Potts — a drive launched beyond mid off — as Pooran finished unbeaten on 58, sealing a seven-wicket result with 16 deliveries to spare in front of a crowd of 20,540.
Sunrisers, who had made a promising start with the ball through Carse and Ellis, ultimately could not contain the MI London lower middle order once conditions favoured strokeplay. The margin of victory — seven wickets with significant time remaining — reflected MI London's dominance through the second half of the chase.
