New Delhi, 14 August 2026: Mitchell Starc set a 'world record' Australia's legendary fast bowler Mitchell Starc has achieved another important achievement in Test cricket. He created history by dismissing Shadman Islam during the first Test against Bangladesh in Darwin and became the right-handed bowler with the highest wicket taker in Test cricket. Starckey Shadman Islam was quick in the ninth over of Bangladesh's first innings. Nathan Lyon was caught and with this wicket Starc's number of Test wickets reached 434. Before this match, both Starc and Sri Lankan veteran spinner Rangana Herath were at the same level with 433 wickets. By taking the wicket of Shadman, Starc left Herath behind and made the record of taking the most Test wickets as a right-handed bowler.
Kapil Dev's record also surpassed
This achievement holds special significance for Starc because by taking his 434th wicket, he has equaled the record of India's legendary all-rounder and former captain Kapil Dev. Kapil Dev had taken 434 wickets in 131 Test matches, whereas Starc has achieved this feat in only 106 Tests. Now both of them are jointly at 11th place in the all-time list of players taking most wickets in Test cricket.
