Landslide devastation in Nepal's Rolpa, 10 dead, 3 missing

So far 10 people have died in the landslide that occurred in Thabar Municipality, Uva Kotalbar of Rolpa district of Nepal. According to police, five of these bodies were recovered at the spot.

Five other bodies reached Pyuthan due to the strong current of flood. The dead range from a 5-year-old child to an 85-year-old man. A massive landslide has occurred in the upper part of Kotalbar village. Due to its debris, 11 houses in the village were buried.

It is reported that there has been massive loss of life. Three people are still reported missing. Their search is on. 22-year-old Himal Pun Magar and 25-year-old Sanjay Gharti were injured after being hit by debris. .

It was he who called the police emergency number 100 at night and informed about the incident. Both are undergoing treatment in Butwal.

The bodies of 18-year-old Shanti Pun Magar, 60-year-old Kamalbahadur Pun Magar, 80-year-old Manrakhi Pun Magar, 75-year-old Dalbahadur Pun Magar and 85-year-old Hastkala Roka Magar have been recovered from the spot.

According to District Police Office Information Officer and Police Inspector Krishna Shrestha, bodies of five people have also been recovered from different places of Lungri river of Rolpa and Madi river of Pyuthan.

The bodies found in Pyuthan have been identified as 38-year-old Jun Kumari Pun Magar, 5-year-old Ashok Pun Magar, 80-year-old Balbahadur Pun Magar, 66-year-old Mani Pun Magar and 34-year-old Mahendra Gharti.

Police Inspector Shrestha said that 9 houses, a shop, two houses and a church were completely buried under the debris. Relief and rescue operations are going on at the incident site.
