Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday made a scathing attack on Congress on the Partition Horrors Memorial Day. He said that the lust for power had increased to such an extent that an eternal nation was torn into pieces.

He said that crores of Hindus had to be displaced from their own motherland and birthplace. Lakhs of Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh and Jain people were massacred, but there was no one to listen to them at that time. Partition is not just a chapter of history, but one of the darkest chapters in the history of humanity. Yogi said, “This day is also providing us an inspiration to learn a lot from those dark chapters of history, because merely remembering them is not going to solve the problem. Why did this problem arise, due to which people, how many culprits were punished and for how long will India continue to pay its price? These questions are still standing before all of us with the same strength.”

Two big reasons behind the partition

CM Yogi said- History is not just a syllabus for examination, but history also gives an opportunity to be proud of glorious moments and rectify the mistakes of the past. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi also had the same sentiment behind the Partition Horrors Memorial Day. The Chief Minister said that there were two big reasons behind the country being enslaved. Mutual contradictions and division on the basis of caste and region.

Conspiracies were also associated with these contradictions and the conspirators were successful, which resulted in the slavery of the country.

The mantra of “Swaraj is our birthright” echoed

Yogi said that the society could not unite and fight with the feeling that someone else is being attacked, why should we speak. He said that the adverse effect of this thinking was that the country became enslaved and India, which had been united since ancient times, was torn into pieces. He said that great fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Rajguru, Chandrashekhar Azad and Rani Lakshmibai had fought in the freedom struggle. The country where the mantra of “Swaraj is our birthright” echoed, ultimately had to pay a heavy price for partition.

Yogi alleged that those who were silent in 1947 had their eyes on power and they wanted to gain power at the cost of the country. He said that even today some political parties work to divide the society on the basis of caste and region for their vested interests.

He said that sometimes the society was divided in the name of Hindu-Sikh and sometimes in the name of caste and region. This resulted in a weak India and innocent Indians had to pay the price of partition. Referring to the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh, he targeted the opposition parties.

Yogi said that even on such matters some parties remain silent due to the fear of losing the vote bank. He alleged that those who consider power as personal property and family inheritance betray the country and promote anarchy and disorder.

Various programs on Vibhishika Memorial Day

On the occasion of Partition Horrors Memorial Day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took out a silent march of about half a kilometer from the statue of Sardar Patel at Hazratganj intersection to Lok Bhavan. Through the Padyatra, tribute was paid to the people who lost their lives during Partition and the families who suffered the pain of displacement.

After reaching Lok Bhavan, the Chief Minister watched the exhibition and short film based on the tragedy of Partition. He also saw live paintings by artists and met people from displaced families who came to India during Partition. During this, members of the affected families shared their pain and experiences.
