Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced the commencement of customer deliveries for the recently launched 9th-generation Hilux in India. The company chose the Independence Day period to begin deliveries, highlighting the Hilux’s positioning as a rugged lifestyle vehicle built for adventure as well as everyday usability. Toyota described the association as a meeting of two icons known for resilience, strength and the ability to overcome challenges.Biggest update yet for Hilux
The ninth-generation Hilux represents the most comprehensive update for Toyota’s global pickup. It adopts an entirely new design inspired by Toyota’s global “Tough & Agile” philosophy, featuring a more upright front fascia, bold TOYOTA lettering across the grille, sleeker LED headlamps, redesigned bumpers and new LED tail lamps.
Proven diesel engine retained
Unlike some international markets that now offer electrified versions, the India-spec Hilux continues with the familiar 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. The engine produces 204 PS and up to 500 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive is offered as standard on the top-spec VX variant and optional with the GX trim.
