Latest teaser confirms Kia Sorento Hybrid for India will be offered with all-wheel drive, alongside Live Gen AI and strong hybrid technology

Kia India has released yet another teaser of the upcoming Sorento, revealing another key detail ahead of its launch on 4th September.   had confirmed the arrival of Kia’s first strong hybrid SUV for India, the latest teaser now officially confirms that the Sorento Hybrid will also feature an all-wheel drive (AWD) system. The teaser carries the message: “A legacy that knows no borders. India is next. And it arrives with more than a celebrated name. Think intelligent conversations with Live Gen AI, the efficiency of hybrid power and the confidence of AWD.”    

Hybrid and AWD confirmed

This is the first official confirmation that Kia will offer the Sorento Hybrid with AWD in India. Globally, the Sorento Hybrid is available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. Kia has now confirmed that Indian buyers will get the more capable AWD version. The combination of a strong hybrid powertrain and AWD is expected to appeal to buyers looking for a premium three-row SUV with improved efficiency as well as enhanced traction during adverse weather or light off-road conditions. The latest teaser also reiterates that Sorento will feature Live Gen AI, highlighting Kia’s focus on connected and AI-powered in-car experiences.

First strong hybrid Kia for India

Sorento will mark Kia India’s entry into the strong hybrid segment. It is expected to use a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong hybrid powertrain, producing a combined output of around 241 PS and 380 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Alongside the hybrid, Kia is also expected to offer the familiar 2.2-litre diesel engine, likely borrowed from the Carnival. This unit develops 193 PS and 441 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Premium SUV with feature-packed cabin

Recent spy shots have already revealed several features expected on the India-spec Sorento. These include second-row captain seats, indicating that both 6-seat and 7-seat layouts could be offered. Other highlights include a curved panoramic display, rotary gear selector, terrain mode selector, ventilated front and second-row seats, Bose premium audio system, wireless charger, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera and a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite. Kia Sorento will be made in India and pricing is expected to be in the Rs 40 lakh range.
