Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi sharply criticized France's speech on human rights and international law. Araghchi pointed to the Israeli government's actions in Gaza and France's support for the attack against Iran.

Araghchi said that France is pursuing a policy of open hypocrisy by supporting the Israeli regime's actions in Gaza and its aggression against Iran.

According to the report of Iran's Mehr news agency, this comment of the Iranian Foreign Minister came at a time when France and 25 other countries, along with the foreign policy chief of the European Union, criticized Iran over death penalty cases.

Araghchi rejected France's attempt to portray itself as a defender of human rights, saying that the Zionist regime's actions in Gaza and its support of aggression against Iran nullify any claim to moral authority.

His reaction came after the statement by the French Foreign Ministry, which was signed by France and 25 other countries as well as EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.

The statement criticized Iran for its continued executions of protesters and its use of the death penalty. The signatory countries called on Tehran to end the practice and release those they said were arbitrarily detained.

According to Mehr news agency, France has also been accused of adopting double standards for this criticism. Critics say that on the one hand, Paris calls itself a supporter of human rights and international law.

On the other hand, it continues to support the Israeli regime despite the serious and disastrous consequences of its military campaign in Gaza. Apart from this, it has also supported steps against Iran during Iran's conflict with America and Israel.
