New Delhi: In view of the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort on August 15, Delhi Traffic Police has issued a special traffic plan. To maintain safety and traffic order, vehicular movement on many roads will be closed or diverted from 4 am to 10 am. In such a situation, it is important to know the route before leaving the house.

Entry of normal vehicles closed on these roads

According to the traffic police, only vehicles with valid labels will be allowed on some major routes. These include Netaji Subhash Marg, Lodian Road, SP Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk Road, Nishad Raj Marg, Esplanade Road and Link Road. Apart from this, normal traffic will also be restricted on the Ring Road between Rajghat and ISBT Kashmiri Gate.

Advice to avoid these routes also

Those who do not have a valid parking label have been advised to avoid C-Hexagon of India Gate, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, JL Nehru Marg and the affected Ring Road between 4 am and 10 am. The traffic police has asked people to allow extra time for travel and follow the instructions of road sign boards, VMS displays and police personnel.

You can use these alternative routes

Vehicles going in north-south direction can use Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Kautilya Marg, SP Marg, 11 Murti, Mother Teresa Crescent, Park Street, Mandir Marg, Panchkuian Road and Rani Jhansi Road.

NH-24/NH-9, Nizamuddin Khatta, Barapula Road and Ring Road are alternative routes for east-west traffic. From DND one can also take the route of Barapula Road or Ring Road.

Ban on buses and goods vehicles also

Movement of goods vehicles will be restricted between Nizamuddin Khatta to Wazirabad Bridge from midnight of 14th August to 11 am on 15th August. At the same time, interstate buses will not be allowed to ply between Maharana Pratap ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT. Delhi's city bus and DTC services will also be run through alternative routes as per need.
