Royal Enfield is all set to launch its new Himalayan 440 in the Indian market. Based on the design of the original Himalayan 411, this bike is powered by the powerful LS440 engine from the 'Scram 440'. The company has announced the launch date of this bike through its official social media handles. The bike will be officially launched on September 4, 2026.

The bike will be positioned below the more tech-rich Himalayan 450 in the company's portfolio. The new 440 brings back the same experience that bikers loved for the relaxed and comfortable riding of the 'long stroke' engine in the Himalayan 411.

When the Himalayan 450 replaced the 411, it was Royal Enfield's most modern bike. It featured many high-tech features like USD forks, liquid cooling, ride-by-wire, TFT screen and Google Maps.

However, the 450's high-revving 'Sherpa' engine lacked the quiet, comfortable nature and good mileage of the old 411's 'long stroke' engine. Keeping this in mind, Royal Enfield has updated this engine to 440cc, and now it has a 6-speed gearbox.

What can you expect??

As for the 'Scram 440', the design of the new Himalayan 440 is likely to remain largely the same as the old Himalayan 411.

• Design and Look: The same can be seen in the fuel tank, windshield, straight handlebar and semi-digital instrument console.
• Tires and Suspension: At the front, the suspension setup with 21-inch spoke wheels, tube-type tires and a long travel of 200mm can be retained.
• Braking System: Disc brakes on both wheels and dual-channel ABS (with a switch to turn off the rear ABS) are highly likely.
• Engine Performance: It will be powered by a 443cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine, which generates 25.4 bhp of power and 34 Nm of torque.

Although the Himalayan 440 and Himalayan 450 have a difference of only 10cc in engine capacity, the two bikes will have completely different character and performance. The new Himalayan 440 will be a great choice for those who love touring and off-roading on a budget.
