According to Duong Hai Anh, Race Director of Read Marathon, streamlining the distances will allow organizers to focus more on race operations, safety, medical services and on-course support, while creating opportunities to introduce new race formats and experiences.

“Removing the 42km category is not simply a change in the number of race distances. We want each edition to offer something new and give runners another reason to return,” Hai Anh said.

The September schedule is intended to provide more favorable racing conditions. June typically brings high temperatures, strong sunshine and high humidity, which can make longer-distance races more demanding.

The main routes will remain largely unchanged to preserve the race’s coastal character, while sections of the 21km course will be adjusted. Organizers will also review traffic management and intersections, and rearrange water stations, medical support, signage and personnel to improve safety and reduce congestion.

Read Marathon Quy Nhon debuted in 2019 as one of the first races in the Read Marathon series. The event has featured coastal routes and landmarks around Quy Nhon, contributing to the city’s profile among runners.
