A day after the attack in Maharashtra, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the forces behind such incidents were trying to disrupt peace in Punjab and asserted that they would not allow this to happen. Referring to his father and former Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, Sukhbir said his father never compromised with such forces and always stood for harmony between communities and regions. He said, “I am not afraid, the development of Punjab and the country is paramount for us. And communal harmony and religious harmony are also paramount.”

He said, “My father never compromised against these forces. He always advocated for people of all communities and regions to live in harmony and happiness. That’s why, whenever my father was Chief Minister, he maintained communal harmony and respected all regions.” Sukhbir said that similar attempts were made against him in the past and alleged that the same forces have tried to do it again.

He said, “These forces, which were active earlier and tried to attack me even a year ago, have tried to do it again. Their aim is to take control of the situation in Punjab and disturb the peace, which as the president of Akali Dal, I will never allow. My father too never allowed this to happen.” Referring to the earlier incident at the Golden Temple and the recent attack on Takht Hazur Sahib, Sukhbir said, “Both times I was attacked in the holiest of places.

was First time at Golden Temple and second time at Takht Gurdwara. And I have always said that if Guru Sahib’s hand is on his head, he cannot do anything.” He added, “Whatever you try, everything is in God’s hands.”
