On August 8, Orange category alert has been issued only for Kangra and surrounding areas. There will be a possibility of heavy rain in other districts.
The Meteorological Department has warned that due to continuous rains, there is a possibility of water level rising in the major rivers and drains of the state. Situations like landslides and floods may also occur. The Meteorological Department advises that people should not go near water sources. Especially in hilly areas like Shimla, Solan, the risk of landslides will be high. Also, visibility will be very low during heavy rains, so avoid unnecessary travel. If it is necessary to travel, follow the road advisories issued by the state government.
According to the data of the Meteorological Department, from August 1 to August 14, there has been 22 percent less rainfall than normal in the entire state.
