In view of this, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in some districts of the state for August 14, August 17 and August 18.”

On August 14, heavy to very heavy rain may occur at one or two places in Una, Bilaspur and Hamirpur. Apart from this, yellow alert has also been issued for heavy rain in Hamirpur, Chamba, Mandi. Light to moderate rain is continuing in Sirmaur, Solan, Bilaspur, Kangra and Mandi since Friday morning. The weather department estimates that it will rain intermittently throughout the day.

The rainy season will continue in the state on August 15 also. Yellow alert of heavy rain has been issued for Kullu, Kangra, Mandi and Shimla. The intensity of rain may be more at one or two places.

Sandeep Sharma said that monsoon activity will increase again from late night of 16th August. Moderate rain will be seen in many areas of the state from late night of 16th August till 18th August. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Chamba, Kangra, Mandi and Shimla on August 16. Therefore, an alert has been issued for these districts.

The weather is going to be worst on 17th and 18th August. There is an orange alert of heavy rain in many areas of the state during these two days. On August 17, there may be heavy to very heavy rain in Una, Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi. For this reason, orange alert has been issued for these districts. On August 8, Orange category alert has been issued only for Kangra and surrounding areas. There will be a possibility of heavy rain in other districts.

The Meteorological Department has warned that due to continuous rains, there is a possibility of water level rising in the major rivers and drains of the state. Situations like landslides and floods may also occur. The Meteorological Department advises that people should not go near water sources. Especially in hilly areas like Shimla, Solan, the risk of landslides will be high. Also, visibility will be very low during heavy rains, so avoid unnecessary travel. If it is necessary to travel, follow the road advisories issued by the state government.

According to the data of the Meteorological Department, from August 1 to August 14, there has been 22 percent less rainfall than normal in the entire state. In this, only Kullu and Shimla recorded normal or above normal rainfall. Rest of the districts have received less rainfall than normal.
