Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday launched a scathing attack on Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha, criticizing him for mocking Prime Minister Modi’s foreign policy.
He accused the opposition of being unable to tolerate the country’s progress and highlighted the Congress Party’s historical record of destabilizing governments.
Shinde raised the question whether the Congress leader should be called a ‘mimicry artist’?
He said the opposition should be proud of India’s growing global prestige and economic progress.
He emphasized that India’s international prestige has increased significantly since Prime Minister Modi assumed power in 2014.
He mentioned that more than 34 to 35 countries have honored Prime Minister Modi with their highest civilian awards and the strong global ties ensured that India did not face any energy crisis during the global oil crisis.
Responding to the opposition’s allegations against the NDA, Shinde made sharp historical claims against the Congress rule. He remarked that those targeting NDA should take a look at their own dark history. Between 1967 and 1971 alone, the Congress toppled 45 governments, imposed President’s rule 16 times, won over 1,800 MLAs and gave ministerial posts to 115 of them. Congress should introspect before throwing stones at others.
Shinde criticized the opposition’s actions, including the indecent protests in the Parliament complex, calling it an insult to democracy.
He alleged that Congress leaders shy away from a real debate with the Union Home Minister because they fear that their past misdeeds will be exposed.
