Bangladesh assumed total control of the Darwin Test match against Australia as they took a 153-run lead. Seamer Mitchell Starc was involved in an angry exchange with Mehidy Hasan Miraz towards the end of the day. The incident happened after the batter tapped the ball for a quick single and ran on the danger area of the pitch.

Starc wasn’t impressed with the move, and he was heard telling the batter, “It is my follow-through, not your follow-through. Get off the wicket.” Sri Lankan umpire Kumara Dharmasena tried to diffuse the situation and also asked the batter not to run on the danger area.

Miraz, though, said that the bowler on his follow-through blinded him. The Bangladeshi player was heard saying, “He’s in the pathway.” The commentators too saw the incident and said, “Just watch the line, a line that runs into Mitchell Starc.” The umpire was later seen talking to the batter and calming the situation.

Tanzid Hasan’s century lights up memorable day for visiting side

Having lost just one wicket at the end of day one, Bangladesh were hoping to get a good start on day two of the game. Mominul Haque was out for 49 runs when Alex Carey caught him to give Josh Hazlewood his 296th wicket in Test cricket.

Najmul Hossain Shanto and Tanzid Hasan then added 93 runs for the third wicket in 157 balls. Tamim reached his century with a single and jumped up in delight and saluted the fans who had come to watch him bat.

The batter was soon out for 101 runs when Starc caught him off Nathan Lyon’s bowling. His knock came off 197 balls and also included eight boundaries and a solitary six.

Bangladesh skipper batted well to amass 84 runs from 126 balls before edging a catch to Steve Smith in the slips to give Hazlewood his second wicket. The host nation then struck twice, with Mitchell Starc first dismissing Litton Das for a duck to get his 435th Test wicket and move past Kapil Dev.

Pat Cummins then got the big wicket of veteran star Mushfiqur Rahim for 36 as Smith got his third catch of the day. When stumps were drawn, Mehidy Hasan Miraz was batting on 32 with Hasan Mahmud on 13.
