Wrestling arena will be decorated in Gorakhnath temple on Nagpanchami, CM Yogi will honor the winners

On the occasion of Nagpanchami, the Gorakhnath temple complex will once again witness the traditional heritage of indigenous sports and wrestling. State level senior prize money men's wrestling competition will be organized on 16th and 17th August in the temple premises. Chief Minister and Gorakshpeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath will be present on August 17 to encourage the wrestlers in the final matches of the competition and to honor the winners.

In this competition organized by the Sports Department of the State Government and District Wrestling Association, wrestlers of Uttar Pradesh Kesari, Uttar Pradesh Kumar and Veer Abhimanyu will try their best for three major titles. About 325 wrestlers from various districts, divisions, sports colleges and sports hostels of the state are expected to participate in the competition.

All three winners will get a prize of Rs 1.01 lakh

According to District Wrestling Association President and international wrestler Dinesh Singh, there is an old tradition of organizing wrestling on the occasion of Nagpanchami in Gorakhnath temple. In the last few years, due to the instructions and initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, it has been given a state level format.

The winners of the three major titles will be honored with Rs 1.01 lakh in cash and mace. The runner-up wrestlers will be given a prize money of Rs 51 thousand, while the two wrestlers standing at third place will be given a prize money of Rs 25 thousand each. Apart from this, the wrestlers participating in the competition will also be given Rs 500 by the Sports Department for each wrestling bout.

Inauguration on 16th August, finals and prize distribution on 17th.

The competition will be inaugurated on 16th August at 12:30 pm. After this there will be competitions in different categories. The closing ceremony of the competition and the prize distribution ceremony is scheduled on August 17 at 3 pm. On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will encourage the players as the chief guest.

While this competition to be organized at Gorakhnath Temple will become a medium to carry forward the traditional wrestling culture, it will also give an opportunity to young wrestlers to showcase their talent on the big stage. The event is expected to encourage wrestling and other indigenous sports in the state.
