New Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu addressed the nation on the eve of the 80th Independence Day and congratulated Indians in the country and abroad. On 15 August 1947, Mother India was freed from the shackles of subjugation. All the countrymen became the architects of the destiny of independent India.

The President said that all Indians living in the country and across the world celebrate this auspicious occasion with great enthusiasm. He called upon us, the people of India, to realize our dreams and take an active part in nation building. He said that the true meaning of our independence is to contribute to India's continuous progress and progress. The contribution of every citizen of the country will help in taking India to new heights.

Tribute to the memory of Iron Man, the architect of modern India

President Murmu said that when the country became independent, it was a challenge to connect more than 550 princely states with India. Sardar Patel merged them. I salute the memory of the Iron Man, the architect of modern India. Devoted students and teachers, scientists and engineers ready for development, doctors and health workers working in health care, hardworking workers and food-giving farmers are building the nation with their efforts. Innumerable countrymen, active in other fields, and all citizens who perform the fundamental duties enshrined in the Constitution, are important partners in nation-building. I sincerely appreciate all of them.

President Murmu said that adopting our rich heritage and the ideals of the freedom struggle, we are moving on the path of modern development. 'Vayam Rashtre Jagriyam', this Vedic sentence inspires us to always remain alert for the nation. Under the leadership of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, countless countrymen joined the freedom struggle. Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar presented high ideals of social reform and national loyalty. I respectfully salute all those great children of Mother India, following whose ideals our country became independent and progressed. Today we celebrate 14th August as Partition Horrors Memorial Day. Due to communal violence, lakhs of people had to become refugees and had to endure the horrors of partition. Still, he did not give up his identity. The spirit of public participation has always been present among the residents of India, the mother of democracy. Our countrymen are taking that spirit forward with new energy.

We are proud of the Indian tradition of conquering anti-human forces in favor of truth and justice. Making India Naxal free is a big achievement. Now there is an atmosphere of enthusiasm in the Naxal affected areas and the all-embracing stream of development is flowing.
