80th Independence Day: The country's capital is fully prepared for the Independence Day celebrations to be celebrated on 15th August. The main venue of the event, Red Fort and the vast area around it have been transformed into a very strong maze of security. Every activity from ground to sky is being closely monitored. The main focus of the security agencies is to completely prevent any type of unwanted activity. The security arrangements have been made so tight that it is not possible to even hit the wings of any bird there. Thousands of soldiers of Delhi Police as well as central paramilitary forces have been deployed at important places.

More than one thousand CCTV active

This time, modern technology is being used on a large scale to make the security system more robust. More than one thousand CCTV cameras have been activated to keep an eye on all the sensitive places inside and outside the Red Fort. Apart from this, modern anti-drone system has been deployed with new technical features to deal with aerial threats. According to Central Delhi DCP Rohit Rajbir Singh, the security system is improved every year and this time also many major changes have been made at the technical level so that there is no gap in surveillance. Special technical squads are working continuously to keep an eye on every suspicious object flying in the sky.

Verification and testing campaign of large number of people

Keeping in mind the sensitivity of the ceremony, security forces have launched an intensive search and investigation operation in the area. DCP Rohit Rajbir Singh informed that the verification of more than twenty thousand people living and working in the areas around the Red Fort has been completed. Necessary precautionary measures have been taken in time against those who were suspected to be involved in any criminal activity. There is continuous patrolling on the roads day and night and all the vehicles coming and going are being thoroughly checked. The presence of security personnel can be clearly seen at every nook and corner of this area.

7 hour ban on roads around Red Fort

On the morning of 15th August, the Prime Minister will address the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort and during this a large number of dignitaries will participate in the program. Keeping this in mind, Central Range DCP Traffic Nishant Gupta said that from 4 am to 11 am, the entry of general vehicles on many main roads will be completely closed. These include Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, Nishadraj Marg, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Marg, Esplanade Road, Kila Ghat Road and Ring Road. Common people have been advised to use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience. The roads will be opened after 11 o'clock when the situation becomes normal.

Digital management of bus route changes and parking

Due to the restrictions imposed during the function, operation of DTC and other buses on the affected routes will be completely stopped. The routes of the buses have been changed and their last stop has been shifted near Ramlila Maidan and Tis Hazari Court. Along with this, all the designated parking spots have been linked to Google Maps so that the invited guests do not face any problem in finding parking. The traffic police is constantly sharing the latest updates to the routes on its official social media handles so that people can get the right information on time. The roads of Chandni Chowk area will also remain closed in the morning, although no restrictions have been imposed on the shops and markets there.

High alert in other parts of the country also

Apart from Delhi, security arrangements have been strengthened in other states of the country also on Independence Day. In Dibrugarh in the north-eastern state of Assam, police and CRPF personnel took out a special motorcycle rally to increase awareness among the general public and test security preparedness. At the same time, security has been increased manifold on the highway going from Narbal to Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir. New checkpoints are being created at various places and intensive searches of vehicles and pedestrians are being carried out so that the entire country can celebrate this great festival of independence with great pomp and show without any hindrance.
