Along with Mumbai and Maharashtra, Jio has reached the milestone of 53 crore 33 lakh customers across the country. Jio has established itself as the leading company in the country in a short span of time. Customers in Mumbai, Maharashtra Jio's customer base has grown at a CAGR of around 45 percent from an initial 15.5 lakh customers in September 2016 to 5.79 crore customers in June 2026. Today, Jio has a share of around 40 percent of the combined Mumbai-Maharashtra wireless consumer market.

The impact of Jio's growth is more pronounced than the rest of the market. Mumbai and Maharashtra combined had about 11.52 crore wireless subscribers in August 2016, prior to Jio's launch. All these customers were with the then existing operators. By June 2026, the total market has grown to about 14.47 crore customers. Jio alone has 5.79 crore connections. Other operators currently have a subscriber base of around 8.67 crore.
MUMBAI- Jio's network in Maharashtra, strong 4G coverage, affordable rates have led to the migration of customers from other operators to Jio and Jio has succeeded in retaining them. After the entry of Jio, the competition intensified. Some companies merged while many operators withdrew from the market. Airtel increased its customer base during this period.
No. 1 in less than four years
In just four years, Jio won the first position in Mumbai-Maharashtra. In April 2018, Jio overtook Airtel and in July 2020, Jio overtook Vodafone Idea.
53.33 crore customers across the country
By June 2026, Jio's customer base across the country has reached 53.33 crore. Out of which 28.5 crore customers are using 5G service. The usage has increased to 43.7 GB per customer.

Zero to 5 crore 79 lakh customers
Starting with zero customer base in 2016, Jio has today grown to 5.79 crore customers and around 40 percent market share. Being a leader in the market, providing excellent customer service, has been successful in customer retention.
