Technology Desk: Xiaomi has announced its new operating system HyperOS 4. Re-designed user interface, AI based features and better system performance will be seen in the company's new software. The biggest change in HyperOS 4 is its new Glass-Inspired Design, which will feature realistic refraction effects on UI elements. Its look is largely reminiscent of Apple's Liquid Glass design.
The company is initially releasing HyperOS 4 as a beta version for select devices. The initial rollout will be limited to China. Xiaomi has not yet given information about when the update will be released for the global market.
First Beta Rollout started from today
According to Xiaomi, the first beta batch of HyperOS 4 will be made available for select flagship smartphones and tablets from today. Many new devices of Xiaomi and Redmi are included in this list.

The second beta batch of HyperOS 4 will be rolled out from August 27. This includes old and new flagship devices.

Third batch starts from 17th September
In the third phase, the beta update of HyperOS 4 will start from September 17. This includes many devices of Redmi, Xiaomi Mix and Xiaomi Pad series.

Xiaomi has not yet released the global rollout date of HyperOS 4 or the availability schedule in India.
Focus on Glass design like iPhone
One of the biggest changes in HyperOS 4 includes its new UI design. Xiaomi has called it Glass-Inspired Design Language.
In this design, effects like refraction and transparency will be visible around some elements present on the screen. The company says that this will make the UI look more modern and dynamic than before.
The design appears to be similar to Apple's new Liquid Glass UI, although Xiaomi has adapted it to its HyperOS interface.
Now you can customize your home screen more
Personalization options have also been increased in HyperOS 4. Users will be able to rearrange UI elements like clock and notifications as per their need.
Apart from this, the size of folders can be changed and there will be an option to group multiple widgets together. This will make it easier to arrange the home screen as per your liking.
Better switching between Portrait and Landscape
Improvements have also been made regarding the orientation of apps in HyperOS 4. The company claims that apps will be able to switch between portrait and landscape modes more easily.
Floating windows can also automatically rotate based on the app's orientation. This is expected to improve the user experience during multitasking.
Apps will remain fast even after 9 hours of use
Xiaomi has also made big claims regarding the performance of HyperOS 4. According to the company, even after using the phone for about 9 hours, apps can load up to 18 percent faster than HyperOS 3.
For this, AI based resource management has been used in the system.
According to the company, the system tries to predict what resources the user may need in the next step. After this, the necessary data or app resources can be pre-loaded into RAM. This can help reduce response time when opening or using an app.
Use of AI will increase with Super AI Assistant 2.0
Super AI Assistant 2.0 has also been introduced in HyperOS 4. It is powered by Xiaomi's in-house MiMo Large Language Model.
According to the company, this AI assistant can do many types of work. This includes voice transcription, organizing notes and searching photos present in the phone.
Apart from this, AI assistant can also help users in preparing travel plans.
Will be able to control Smart Home and Car also
Super AI Assistant 2.0 will not be limited to the functions inside the phone only. According to Xiaomi, compatible smart home and smart car products can also be controlled through AI assistant.
This can provide the facility to use different smart devices of Xiaomi through a single AI interface.
Inspiration Ball will give contextual information
A new feature named Inspiration Ball is also provided in HyperOS 4. It is designed to provide better context between the user interface and the AI assistant.
Its purpose is to help convey the information on the user's screen and the context of his or her work to the AI assistant, so that the assistant can provide more useful responses as needed.
HyperOS version not directly linked to Android
An important thing about the version number of HyperOS is that Xiaomi's HyperOS release does not directly go with the version number of Android.
For example, the company has rolled out software based on Android 17 as HyperOS 3. During this operating system generation, the company also made Android 16 available for some of its smartphones.
Therefore, just by looking at the name HyperOS 4, it is not necessary to assume that it is a direct upgrade of any particular Android version.
