New Delhi, 14 August 2026: Logistics Data Bank (LDB) has tracked 10 crore EXIM containers since its launch in 2016. The platform provides visibility into the movement of EXIM containers across the country through technology-based tracking systems. LDB supports transparency and visibility in the logistics chain and provides information to stakeholders to facilitate monitoring of container movements.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, said: “The tracking of 10 crore containers by the Logistics Data Bank is an important milestone in India's logistics journey. Technology is helping us make logistics easier, faster and more efficient, while improving the competitiveness of Indian industries. To strengthen production, expand our presence in global markets and realize the Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision of 'Developed India' Logistics will be very important.”

• 19 ports and 32 container terminals covered

LDB provides visibility of 100 percent of India's EXIM container cargo through RFID-based technology, covering 19 ports and 32 container terminals. Its network also extends to 103 inland container depots (ICDs), 439 container freight stations (CFSs), empty yards, parking plazas and industrial zones, 89 productive special economic zones (SEZs), 5,569 railway stations, 269 toll plazas and three integrated check posts.

The platform provides analytics on dwell time, transit time, and port and terminal performance, enabling stakeholders to monitor logistics operations and identify bottlenecks. Launched in September 2025 by the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, LDB 2.0 has enhanced the capabilities of the platform by enabling seaborne tracking of India's export containers and providing multimodal shipment visibility.

LDB uses radio frequency identification (RFID), Internet of Things (IoT), big data and cloud technologies to track containers at ports, railway networks, industrial zones, borders and highways, providing near real-time visibility of the container's movement across the logistics chain. The World Bank's Logistics Performance Index (LPI) has also praised the role of LDBs in India's logistics performance.

• Average more than 1.5 crore container searches per month on LDB

Rajat Kumar Saini (IAS), Chief Business Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD), National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) and Chairman, NICDC Logistics Data Services Limited (NLDSL) said, “Reaching the milestone of 10 crore containers is a proud moment in the journey of LDB. Exim started with the aim of bringing visibility to the container world. It was an important digital platform for India's logistics sector today.

This achievement has been possible with the continuous cooperation of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Ports, Terminals, CFSs, ICDs and our other stakeholders. Going forward, our endeavor will be to further strengthen LDB through analytics and new technology to meet the evolving needs of India’s logistics sector.”

On an average, more than 1.5 crore containers are searched every month on LDB. Its container tracking services are available through a single-window platform at www.ldb.co.in, enabling stakeholders to track containers.

NICDC Logistics Data Services Limited (NLDSL) provides logistics technology solutions including Logistics Data Bank and Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP). This platform uses digital technology to support efficiency, transparency and digitization in the logistics sector.

NLDSL was established on 30 December 2015 with the objective of using information and communications technology (ICT) to increase efficiency in the Indian logistics sector. It is a joint venture between the Government of India, represented by the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), and Japanese IT giant NEC Corporation.
