Manchester United are widely expected to complete more transfer business before the window shuts next month.
According to Ben Jacobs, speaking via The United Stand, there are three areas INEOS want to strengthen in the closing weeks of the market.
He says the Red Devils have made signing a new left-back one of their leading priorities, along with bringing in a third midfield addition after the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.
If the right opportunity presents itself, the club could also look at a late move for a No.9 to reduce the pressure on Benjamin Sesko.
The 23-year-old has not played for the side during pre-season so far because of the injury that brought his first campaign to an early end.
He finished with 11 Premier League goals last season, an impressive return for a young player adjusting to his first year in England.
Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee are all capable of leading the attack in his absence, but adding further firepower to Michael Carrick’s forward options would not be a bad move ahead of United’s return to the Champions League.
In another area, the links with left-backs are gathering pace as INEOS appear concerned about the possibility of depending on Luke Shaw, who has been United’s most injury-prone player over the past decade, for the full season.
United have reportedly been offered Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly, 19, but it is understood he wants to remain at the Emirates and compete for his place.
It is clear that Lewis Hall is their top-choice target this summer. However, Newcastle United are insisting he is not for sale after already allowing Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes to leave.
RB Leipzig captain and Germany international David Raum, 28, is believed to be another name on United’s shortlist and could prove a more realistic option at this stage.
