The court rejected Abhishek's bail application

A young woman pursuing medical education in Karnataka filed a complaint against Abhishek in the police station. The investigation of Abhishek is going on since June 23. After interrogation, the Hooghly (Rural) police took him into custody on August 11 and officially arrested him late on Wednesday night. Porel underwent a mandatory medical examination before being produced in court. He was then produced before the Chinsura court, where a heated verbal exchange ensued between the police and the defense counsel. The court, considering the arguments of the police and the seriousness of the case, refused to grant bail to the cricketer and ordered a 14-day judicial custody.

According to reports, the police visited Abhishek Porel's house several times, but he was not arrested. The student later approached the Kolkata High Court, where the court ordered the police to arrest Abhishek immediately.

According to reports, Abhishek Porel and the alleging student were in a relationship for three years. They had traveled abroad together and even planned to get married. They had an altercation about 18 months ago, which reached the police, but no FIR was registered.

The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek plays for Bengal in domestic cricket. He has scored 1,408 runs in 50 innings in 32 first-class matches. This includes one century and 12 fifties. He has also scored 833 runs in 23 List A matches and 1,590 runs in 61 T20Is. He has 11 half-centuries in T20 Internationals to his name, four of which came while playing for Delhi Capitals in the IPL.

Abhishek Porel joined the Delhi Capitals team in 2023 and has been a part of the team ever since. He played a total of 35 matches for Delhi in the IPL and scored 769 runs in 33 innings. He played just four matches last season and scored just 108 runs.
