Six arrested for Rs 3.05 crore fraud over Nashik Kumbh Mela contracts

Nashik police have arrested six people for allegedly cheating individuals of Rs 3.05 crore by promising contracts for works to the 2027-28 Nashik Kumbh Mela. Police said the accused fabricated fake work orders to deceive complainants

Nashik: The city police have arrested six persons so far for allegedly cheating some persons of Rs 3.05 crore by promising to arrange contracts for the 2027-2028 Nashik Kumbh Mela works for them. The arrested persons were identified as Tanay Anant Mahajan (32), Narendra Totaram Mahajan (51), Shoaib Ahmed Abdul Sattar Sheikh (36), Abdul Rais Abdul Munaf Sheikh (43), Shakeel Ahmed Saleemuddin Sheikh (42) and Mohammed Waseem Abdul Gaffar (42).

The accused allegedly fabricated fake work orders to cheat the complainants, police said. Nashik Road police are conducting further probe.
