Uttarakhand News: The capital Dehradun is fully prepared to celebrate the country's 80th Independence Day with pomp and joy. The main state level function on the occasion of upcoming Independence Day 2026 is to be organized at the Parade Ground. Many distinguished dignitaries of the state, public representatives and a large number of common citizens will participate in the main program to be held on this auspicious occasion. In view of this, the District Magistrate of Dehradun and the Senior Superintendent of Police jointly visited the parade ground. Both the senior officers closely inspected all the administrative, security and traffic arrangements being made at the venue and issued necessary instructions to all the officials present on the spot.

High level review meeting with officials

After on-site inspection of the parade ground, the Senior Superintendent of Police held an important meeting with all the gazetted police officers of the district in the police office. The main objective of this meeting was to conduct the Independence Day celebrations organized at different places across the district in a completely peaceful, orderly and safe environment. The SSP gave clear instructions to all the police station in-charges and jurisdictional officers to keep ready the complete list of flag hoisting programs to be held in schools, colleges, government offices and non-government institutions located in their respective police station areas. Along with this, make an accurate assessment of the special guests attending the programs and the expected crowd and make adequate security arrangements accordingly.

Strict surveillance on crowded areas and borders

To strengthen the internal security of the district, instructions have been given to keep special vigil on railway stations, bus stands, major markets and sensitive crowded places. Intensive checking campaign is being carried out continuously at all these important places through Bomb Disposal Squad i.e. BDS and Dog Squad. Apart from this, security checkpoints have been tightened on all the interstate and interdistrict borders of the district. Strict searches are being conducted for suspicious vehicles and persons on all routes inside the city so that any kind of unwanted activity can be stopped in time.

Parade ground will become zero zone, traffic will be restricted

The security arrangements at the main function venue to be held at the parade ground have been kept very tight and tight. During the program, the entire area around the main venue has been declared zero zone. There will be a complete ban on the movement of any kind of heavy and light vehicles, carts and street vendors within this fixed radius. The security command of the entire program has been handed over to the Superintendent of Police Crime. To further strengthen the security arrangements, the entire venue has been divided into four major sectors and two strong security cordons. The responsibility of all these sectors and cordons has been handed over to jurisdictional level officers, with whom adequate police force will be deployed.

Strong arrangements for traffic plan, parking and mobile patrolling

For the convenience of the special guests and common citizens attending the programme, separate entry and exit routes have been decided. To ensure that the general public does not face any kind of inconvenience, a smooth and effective traffic plan has been implemented in the city and advisories are also being issued for the common people. Marked parking spaces have been created for parking the vehicles in an organized manner. Mobile police parties will continue to patrol all the police station areas till the peaceful completion of the function. Superintendents of Police, City, Rural and Crime have been instructed to constantly review the security preparedness in their respective areas and get any deficiencies rectified immediately.
