New Delhi: The weather may remain bad in many parts of the country on Independence Day. The Meteorological Department has said that the monsoon has once again become active and on Saturday, August 15, there may be heavy to very heavy rain in many states. There is a possibility of landslides at some places and waterlogging at some places.
Heavy rain in North-East and hilly states
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at some places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. Apart from this, there may be heavy rain at isolated places in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Uttarakhand, West Bengal and Sikkim. There will be a risk of landslides and flash floods along with rain in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. There are chances of rain in the Ganga plains of West Bengal also.
North India: What will be the condition in Delhi, UP, Rajasthan
Rainy spells will continue in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Especially in western Uttar Pradesh, there may be heavy rain on August 15. Rain is expected to continue in UP from 15 to 18 August.
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy to very heavy rain in some parts of Eastern and Western UP on August 16 and 17. On 17-18, there will be rain and thundershowers at most places in eastern UP and western parts. Due to continuous rain, the water level of Ganga-Yamuna may also increase.
People living in low-lying areas have been asked to remain alert. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Delhi. There will be light to moderate rain in the capital and heavy rain in some areas may cause waterlogging. The temperature will drop due to clouds and rain. There is a possibility of traffic and water logging on roads.
Monsoon in full swing in central and western India
There is a possibility of very heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh on August 15. There may be heavy rain at some places in Vidarbha also. Rain will continue in Gujarat also. There will be showers in Konkan-Goa and Central Maharashtra of Maharashtra.
There is an alert of very heavy rain in the northern and central districts of Chhattisgarh for the next 48 hours. Due to the pressure in the Bay of Bengal, rain will increase. Clouds and thunderstorms are possible in Raipur.
Weather of East and South India
There is orange alert in Sundergarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda of Odisha. Heavy rain may also occur in 14 more districts. There is a danger of overflowing rivers and floods. Fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea till August 15.
There will be widespread rainfall over coastal Karnataka in the south. There may be rain and thundershowers in parts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
