The Goan club has paid the full ₹1.1 crore participation fee to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) by Friday's deadline for all ISL 2026-27 participating clubs.

Jamshedpur FC had pulled out of the ISL and disbanded their first team on July 31, hours after the deadline to pay the first installment of the participation fee, amounting to ₹55 lakh.

On Friday, Tata Steel transferred Jamshedpur FC's ISL sporting licence. The transfer of ownership for a nominal amount of ₹100 includes the transfer of Jamshedpur FC's 12 players - who have multiple-year contracts - and two coaches to the Goan club.

Pronay Halder, Albino Gomes, Pratik Choudhary, Mohammed Sanan and Nikhil Barla are some of the prominent players, while Scot Owen Coyle and his assistant Alexander Stewart are the two coaches.

Churchill will take over the contracts of all the Jamshedpur FC players and coaching staff with effect from September 1. The transfer of ownership is expected to be completed by August 31.

"Tata Steel has agreed to transfer its equity shares in 'Jamshedpur Football & Sporting Private Limited' (JFSPL) to Churchill Brothers Football Club for a token consideration," Tata Steel said in a release. JFSPL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Steel.

In February this year, a couple of days before the truncated ISL-12 was set to begin, Churchill's bid to sneak into the league was stalled by the participating teams.

Blow to clubs

In a setback to the new club-led operational model, the ISL received just one bid from sports streaming platform FanCode for the media rights. However, the streaming platform has not put any money on the table. Instead, a revenue-sharing model has been mooted.

Club sources said the owners are expected to meet next week to discuss the way forward.
