Bollywood Action Superstar Sunny Deol has now come up with the period action drama Batwara 1947. The film is set in Lahore against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition. Rajkumar Santoshi directed the movie, while Preity Zinta played the female lead. The film had low buzz and went into the release with dull bookings. Even on the opening day, occupancies remained low throughout the day. According to trade estimates, the movie collected just Rs. 5.5 crores nett on Friday, a low start for a film with star names attached. Aamir Khan produced Batwara 1947, but his goodwill among the audience didn’t translate into ticket sales. The movie now needs to show strong growth on Independence Day to recover the lost ground. Let’s see what happens.
