On the occasion of Independence Day, when the entire country is seen colored in the colors of the tricolor, then Lata Mangeshkar’s voice fills the heart of every Indian with a sense of patriotism. Even after 22 years, the song ‘Aisa Desh Hai Mera’ from Yash Chopra’s blockbuster film ‘Veer-Zaara’ released in 2004 still resonates from the Red Fort to the streets every 15th August.

Love of the country from the soil of Punjab: Why is this song special

This song, filmed on Shah Rukh Khan (Squadron Leader Veer Pratap Singh) and Preity Zinta (Zara Hayat Khan) in the film ‘Veer-Zara’ made under the Yash Raj banner, reflects the beautiful culture of India and love across the border. The voices of Udit Narayan, Gurdas Maan and Pradipta Roy along with Lata Mangeshkar added the fragrant aroma of the fields of Punjab in this song. The tune of late musician Madan Mohan and the lyrics of Javed Akhtar still give goosebumps.

Talking about box office records, this film, made on a budget of ₹ 23 crore, had earned a record of ₹ 107 crore including re-releases across the world. The film won the Best Film Award at the 50th Filmfare Awards, while Shahrukh Khan received the Best Actor Award and Rani Mukherjee received the Best Supporting Actress Award.
