Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday said her government is working towards making the capital the most dynamic urban economy in the country. He said that the pace at which India is developing economically, Delhi will also have to move forward at the same pace. The Chief Minister was speaking at the Indian Business Festival organized at Bharat Mandapam. He said that trade and business will play an important role in taking the country towards the goal of developed India. To strengthen the economy of Delhi, emphasis is being laid on providing better environment and facilities to businessmen and entrepreneurs.

India is now becoming a reliable manufacturing hub: Rekha Gupta

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that India was earlier seen primarily as a consumer economy, but now the country is emerging as a reliable manufacturing hub and a reliable global supply chain. He attributed this change to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various policy reforms implemented after 2014. Speaking at the Indian Business Festival held at Bharat Mandapam, Rekha Gupta said that the country's economic potential and its role in global trade has increased rapidly in the last years. He said that policy reforms have created new opportunities for business and industry.

Businesses benefit from free trade agreements

The Chief Minister also mentioned India's growing network of free trade agreements (FTAs). He said that the expansion of these agreements has given Indian businessmen and industrialists better access to international markets. According to Rekha Gupta, increasing access of Indian companies to global markets is providing new opportunities to the country's trade and industry. He said that with India's economic progress, Delhi will also have to rapidly advance its economy and business activities.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that India is now moving rapidly towards economic transformation through digital technology, moving beyond traditional economic development. He said that technology has brought about a big change in the country's economy and business practices. Speaking at the Indian Business Festival, Rekha Gupta also mentioned India's rapidly growing startup ecosystem. He said that before 2014, there were about 100 startups in the country, whereas now their number has increased to more than 2.5 lakh.

The Chief Minister said that this sharp increase in the number of startups reflects the growing impact of entrepreneurship, innovation and technological capability in India. He said that digital technology based economy is creating huge opportunities for the youth and new entrepreneurs of the country. Rekha Gupta said that India's economic journey is no longer limited to just increasing the pace of development, but also focuses on economic transformation and use of new technology.

UPI and DBT changed the economic picture of the country

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, citing digital initiatives like Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), said technology has fundamentally changed India's economic landscape. He said that digital technology has made the entire system faster and effective, from transactions to providing benefits of government schemes. Rekha Gupta said that initiatives like UPI and DBT have played an important role in increasing the reach of digital payments and government services in the country. The increasing use of technology has also promoted transparency and efficiency in the economy.

Emphasis on increasing the pace of development of Delhi

The Chief Minister said that Delhi will also have to play a big role in India's development journey. For this, there is a need to further strengthen the trade, business and economic ecosystem of the capital. He said that Delhi will have to keep pace with the country's rapid economic progress. Work will be done to make the capital a strong center of economic activities by creating a better environment for businessmen, industrialists and entrepreneurs.
