Independence Day special: Today, on this special occasion of Independence Day, we are going to tell you a story of patriotism, which is not only special to hear, but also makes you feel very proud to see. Usually we hoist the tricolor on national festivals and after the ceremony is over it is taken down respectfully.

We are talking about Begumpet village located in Rajpet mandal of Yadadri district of Telangana. Here the tricolor has been fluttering proudly in the air for the last 80 years. This unique tradition started on that historic day when India gained independence from British rule on 15 August 1947.

Three freedom fighters in Begumpet village on the first morning of independence- Baddam Narsee Reddy, Balaje Veeraiah and Chigulla Mallaiah Had hoisted the tricolor at the main square of the village. But that day they did not just celebrate independence. He took a resolution which became the identity of the coming generations. The villagers decided that the national flag would never be lowered permanently from this place.

Time passed, generations changed but this resolve of Begumpet still remains intact. There is also a very special arrangement regarding the tricolor here. When the flag becomes old, it is respectfully taken down and a new tricolor is hoisted in its place. That is, the flag changes but the resolve to always keep it high never changes.

Not only this, to strengthen this feeling of patriotism in the village, a statue of Mahatma Gandhi was also installed in the year 1979. Today this place remains a center of inspiration for the villagers. For the people of Begumpet, this tricolor is not just a flag of three colors of cloth. It symbolizes the memory of their ancestors, the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and the cost of the country's independence.

Imagine, the tradition of the tricolor which was hoisted by three freedom fighters on the first day of independence is being carried forward with the same respect by the new generation of the village even after almost eight decades. The tricolor of Begumpet, which has been flying continuously for 80 years, still remains an example of pride and inspiration for the entire country.
