Ranchi, 15 August 2026: News is being received regarding Jharkhand student movement. Devendra Nath Mahato, who has been on hunger strike for several days, is determined to hoist the Tricolor at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium and then participate in the 'Tiranga Yatra', due to which heavy police arrangements have been made outside his room in Sadar Hospital.
Devendra Nath Mahato's team says that Devendra Nath Mahato is being continuously hindered by the police. For almost an hour they have been trying to stop him from coming out and in the presence of a large convoy of police, he has been mocked and jostled with.
Devendra Nath Mahato had said that he had submitted a written declaration stating that the hospital would not be held responsible if he lost his life; Nevertheless, they were trying to stop him from displaying the tricolor. He asked, “Is this what is called freedom?” Devendra Nath Mahato's team claims that despite the presence of heavy police force, Devendra Nath Mahato will leave to participate in the Tiranga Yatra.
It is noteworthy that student leader Devendra Nath Mahato is on hunger strike against JPSC and JSSC for the last 14 days, due to which his body has become very weak. Due to this, on the day of assembly siege i.e. 10th August, the administration admitted him to Ranchi Sadar Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, the agitating students have announced to start 'Tiranga Yatra' from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium today. Devendra Nath Mahato was determined to participate in it; However, the police have kept him at the hospital itself.
