Patna. The state government has set a big target towards restarting the closed sugar mills in Bihar. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary announced from Gandhi Maidan on the occasion of Independence Day that a target has been set to restart 10 sugar mills in the next six months. This decision of the government is expected to create new employment opportunities for the sugarcane farmers as well as the youth.

Sugarcane farmers will get market

With the operation of sugar mills, sugarcane producing farmers will be able to get a better market at the local level to sell their crops. With the increase in sugarcane procurement from mills, it will be easier for farmers to find buyers for their produce. The expectation of timely payment will also increase.

Employment avenues for youth

With the resumption of mills, jobs will not only increase in factories, but employment opportunities can also be created in sectors to transportation, labour, machinery, trade and other services. This may reduce to some extent the need for local youth to go to other states for work.

Emphasis on reviving industries

The state government is working on a strategy to reactivate closed industrial units in Bihar. Sugar industry is being seen as an important sector to agriculture. The operation of the mills is expected to give impetus to the entire chain of sugarcane production, processing and local business.

Government aims to create entrepreneurs in every family

Referring to the approximately 3.5 crore families in the state, the government has also set a target of creating at least one entrepreneur from each family. Through this, emphasis is being laid on encouraging the youth to start their own business along with jobs.
