New Delhi: Today is the eighth death anniversary of former Prime Minister of India and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Tributes are being paid to him across the country. Many big leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered him and paid tribute to his contribution and thoughts towards the country. The spirit of country, democracy and national service always remained prominent in Vajpayee's poems and speeches.
'The darkness will end, the sun will come out'
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a leader who had his own identity in Indian politics. He believed that country and democracy are more important than power. His thoughts still inspire people in political and social life. On the occasion of his death anniversary, many leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute to him through social media.
Leaders paid tribute by reaching 'Always Atal'
On the death anniversary of the former Prime Minister, a tribute program was organized at the 'Sadaiv Atal' memorial site in Delhi. Prime Minister Modi, President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President C.P. Many leaders including Radhakrishnan and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh reached there and offered floral tributes.
Prime Minister Modi described Atal Bihari Vajpayee as an extraordinary politician and said that he dedicated his entire life to serving the country. His ideas and leadership will remain an inspiration for generations to come.
Big contribution from nuclear power to development
Atal Bihari Vajpayee's tenure as Prime Minister is remembered for many important decisions. Under his leadership, nuclear testing took place in Pokhran in 1998, which gave a new identity to India's strategic strength.
Apart from this, he also stressed on strengthening the infrastructure of the country. A major step was taken towards connecting Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata with better road network through the Golden Quadrilateral Project.
Initiative to provide roads to villages
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana of Vajpayee government is considered an important initiative for rural India. Its objective was to connect the villages with better and paved roads. During his tenure, many policy steps were also taken in areas like telecommunication and education.
Ideas, democratic values and national interest got a special place in the politics of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This is the reason why the country is remembering him with respect on his death anniversary.
